SKEMA student Carla Renaudin triumphs in top 10 business schools' eloquence contest

Published on 10 May 2024

Carla Renaudin, a student in the Master in Management (PGE) programme at SKEMA Business School, has emerged victorious in a contest featuring speakers from the top 10 business schools in France. Hailing from the preparatory class Notre Dame des Minimes in Lyon, she is aiming for a career as a barrister.

Having delved into the art of oratory by participating in eloquence competitions, Carla Renaudin, a third-year student in the PGE programme, is certainly not one to boast. Yet, there's ample justification for it! At 21, she has clinched the prestigious top 10 business schools' eloquence contest held in April. At the podium, she spoke on the topic, "In politics, not every fault is a crime."

"I had never been particularly interested in eloquence before participating in the pre-selections for this contest against other SKEMA students. This topic struck a chord with me as my calling is to become a barrister. I developed my argument around the nuances of penal offences, focusing especially on the very meaning of the word 'crime'," explains Carla. The jury for this contest included Benoît Lemaire (sub-prefect of Reims), Marie-Laure Pezant (colonel and spokesperson for the National Gendarmerie), Tessnime Ben Tahar from ICP Eloquence, and Hugo Rousselle Nerini (president of the Francophone Debate Federation).

Aiming for the Master's in Business Contract Law

Passionate about legal matters, she plans to join our Master's in Business Contract Law this year, a dual degree offered by SKEMA Law School for Business, resulting from a partnership between SKEMA and the Polytechnic University of Hauts de France. "I would like to work as a labour law specialist for businesses and sit for the bar examination in September 2025," she says. In 2023, 12 students from the Master's in Business Contracts sat for the bar exam, with 10 being admitted.
