China campus students visit Ctrip global HQ

Published on 02 October 2018

19 September, 50 students from SKEMA’s Suzhou campus went to Shanghai to visit the headquarters of Ctrip, the third biggest online travel agency in the world.

Ctrip is a Chinese NASDAQ company with over 30 000 employees and more than 300 million members.

Alexandra Horle (SKEMA graduate 2003, in photo foreground on left), the company’s regional director of operations told the students the history of Ctrip, its fields of activity and its business model. “It was really a pleasure for me to see the SKEMA Suzhou students visiting Ctrip. It gives them an excellent opportunity to see the less obvious side of how a Chinese market leader operates and to get an understanding of the world of Chinese companies. As a SKEMA graduate, and proud of it, I always try to share my experience with the students.” she explained.

Ctrip directors then showed the SKEMA students the impressive Network Operations Centre, and presented the very latest voice recognition technology (IA).

The visit ended with a mini recruitment fair devoted to SKEMA where students were able to discuss directly with human resources managers and apply for various positions (internships and employment).

Let’s leave the last word to SKEMA student Laurine: “It was the first time that I had visited a Chinese company and it was impressive to see the size of their premises. The fact that a SKEMA graduate led the visit and shared her experience and her career made me want to find an internship or a career opportunity in China and know more about working in this country.”
