Induction day for international MSc and MiM students

Published on 19 September 2017

Monday 11 September, SKEMA’s new international students (Two-Year MSc, MSc and Master in Management exchange students) had their induction day.

Events took place on the French campuses in Lille, Paris and Sophia Antipolis: the day was organised by Teamspirit, and the Sports department: an opportunity for new students to part of SKEMA.

In Paris, 280 students in 30 teams began the morning with a treasure hunt that led them to the place where they would have lunch. In the afternoon, this hunt continued across Paris’ most important landmarks, collecting information and winning points through quizzes etc.: The Arc de Triomphe, les Invalides, the Ile de la Cité, the Mairie de Paris, Beaubourg, the Louvre, the Tuileries, the Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel tower and the Chaillot Palace were all part of the programme. At the end of the afternoon, all the students met up at the Ile aux Cygnes opposite Beaugrenelle to hear the results.

In Lille, the 60 students took part in a treasure hunt in two parts: the first on the SKEMA campus to help them find their way around and the second to help them get to know the town and its characteristics through games and fun activities. In the afternoon, students had a city tour by coach.

In Sophia Antipolis, 256 students were split into two teams: Old Antibes (where they discovered the old city and its quirks) and SKEMA, (where the teams had to complete three challenges: an orientation game to find out about the premises with riddles and other questions, another orientation race in the area around the campus and a set of five challenges that helped the teams to get to know each other better.

Through games and challenges, this day helped students discover their campus and its resources as well as their surroundings. It was also a great way to get to know each other and create a positive group dynamic that will help these groups learn and work together.
