SKEMA: partner of Viva Technology

Published on 06 June 2018

SKEMA was an academic partner of Viva Technology last month in Paris. Speakers at this year's event included French president, Emmanuel Macron, as well as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, IBM’s Ginny Rometty, and Uber’s Dara Khosrowshahi.

This partnership enabled 500 students to attend this major innovation event in Paris on May 24, 25 and 26.

More than 60,000 people attended the event, which had more than 6,000 start-ups, 1,400 investors and exhibitors from more than 50 countries.

Students had the opportunity to participate in the major events and presentations of the venue: the Hall of Tech where the public can interact with robots, drones, VR and AR demonstrations (virtual reality, augmented reality), Talent Connect where hundreds of job opportunities were offered by partners. The 500 conferences, round tables and workshops were also an opportunity for students to understand the keys for the future and to find inspiration.

Pauline Gane, a SKEMA student in the MSc International Strategy & Influence, was selected by Viva Technology organisers to participate in the pitch contest. Pauline is founder of Easy V and winner of the Entrepreneuriales contest, she presented her start-up in front of thousands of spectators. "I am very happy to be able to pitch my project, which aims to facilitate volunteer involvement in companies. This allowed me to meet the players in the economic world who are sensitive to the theme of engagement. I am proud to have been selected and to promote the values of the social and solidarity economy in an event of such international acclaim", she said.

Ilan Scialom (head of the Venture Factory of the Paris La Défense SKEMA campus), who set up this partnership explains: "By working on this partnership, I wanted to give our students a concrete example of Glocal Entrepreneurship, the true DNA of SKEMA Business School. For three days, Viva Technology lets us discover the technologies of the future, the start-ups of tomorrow as well as inspiring leaders who have a real, global impact. More than 500 SKEMA students attended Viva Technology. I hope for even more next year. The next challenge is to deepen this partnership by having SKEMA Ventures, led by Philippe Chéreau, be recognised as an Accelerate Business Partner of Viva Technology.”

Viva Technology aims to help start-ups and executives accelerate their development and generate new solutions that will change the economy and society of tomorrow, accelerating the growth of start-ups and the digital transformation of companies.
