South American campus: Bem-vindo ao Brasil!

Published on 06 February 2018

412 SKEMA students just started their spring semester on our Belo-Horizonte campus on 15 and 16 January.

Two days of fun and sun thanks to the professional and kind-hearted welcome from our team on the Brazilian campus: student office coordinators Gabriela Sampaio, Vanessa Freitas and Renata Knupfer Coutinho, helped for the occasion by our colleagues from the FDC (Fondation Dom Cabral).

The Orientation Day programme on 15 January on the Aloysio Faria campus in the Teatro Belgo, was packed with information and gave students an idea of what to expect from the coming semester: a welcome from Lívia Barakat (FDC - academic director and director of the MSc International Business) and Geneviève Poulingue (campus director), an explanation of local medical, care, a talk from the police, a presentation of sports and other social activities, the IT situation, a presentation of Portuguese lessons by the Belo-Horizonte Alliance Francaise, year group photos… and of course, a presentation of the academic semester with professors from each special option.

The following day, 16 January, it was time for lntegration Day at the Cine Theatro Brasil Vallourec in Belo-Horizonte. Less taxing than the previous day, there were presentations of the town and the 2018 carnival, a demonstration of capoeira and talks by Geneviève Poulingue and Philippe Makany (Cultural and Cooperation attaché from the French Embassy in Brazil and general vice director of the Institut Français of Brazil for the State of Minas Gerais) both of whom underlined the importance of the cultural aspects of management education.

We wish all our students, professors and staff an excellent semester at Belo.
