Abstract

North-African Financial Systems: Contrasting Changes and Faltering Integration The treaty establishing the Arab Maghreb Union was signed on February 17, 1989 by the five Maghreb heads of State in Marrakech. Yet Maghreb financial integration has not been enforced because of political tensions between member states and internal resistance to trade liberalization. This article focuses on financial liberalization and integration in North Africa, particularly in the area AMU.
