About the city


One hour from Shanghai, Suzhou is a major historical and cultural city. It attracts many tourists and is among one of the most advanced centres of technology in the world. Suzhou is called the Venice of the East because of its many canals, beautiful natural environment and traditional gardens.

It is full of market opportunities for foreign investors coming to China and remains one of the nation's key economic focal points. It is home to 118 of the top 500 companies in the world and is China's second-largest centre of industry and a top destination for foreign investment. This makes it an ideal recruitment centre for graduates seeking an international career.


About the campus

SKEMA's 3500m2 Suzhou campus is at the heart of an international community of more than 50,000 Chinese and international students in one of the region's most advanced technology parks. All essential services are available at the campus: restaurants, pharmacies, laundromats, travel agents, buses, taxis, etc. There is also a very large library nearby at your disposal, as well as sports facilities for your free time.

Dushu Lake Library: The library has a collection of over a million digital books, 600,000 traditional books, 30,000 periodicals, etc. Students can also participate in diverse Chinese cultural activities and events such as Chinese calligraphy, painting, tai chi, kung fu, culture immersion trips, etc.

Business ecosystem


The new Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) is a joint Chinese-Singaporean project. It covers an area of 288km² and is situated in one of China's most economically dynamic areas.

The campus is also close to the Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District (SEID). The area has attracted and created 29 higher education institutions and a national research institution. It hosts around 78,500 students, 5,000 professors and 4,400 companies such as Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics (SINANO) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Biobay, SIP Creative Industry Park, and Soaring Innovation Park.

Shanghai: Just a half-hour journey by train from Suzhou, Shanghai is an economic centre of China and one of the largest cities in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the People's Republic of China, with a population of more than 24 million. It is a global financial centre and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port.

There are several towns such as Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Luzhi, and others, which are among China's most famous historic and cultural places.
