SKEMA's campuses in Suzhou and Nanjing welcomed their new students with a wide range of activities during a dedicated orientation week. In total, over 500 new students from around the world were welcomed.

In Suzhou, students captivated by Chinese culture

In Suzhou, students took part in a three-day interactive orientation programme to kick off their academic year, alongside a tailored academic preparation programme. They were drawn by the unique opportunity to combine international business education with immersion in Chinese culture. “I chose to come to the Suzhou campus because I believe it is ideally located, in the heart of China. It's the perfect place for me. Academically, I plan to make the most of these valuable months to learn Mandarin and immerse myself in Chinese culture,” explains Kelvin Rames, MSc International Business student. To conclude their orientation, students visited Tongli, the ancient town of Suzhou.

“A dynamic environment that fosters academic excellence”

“We are proud to offer a dynamic environment that fosters both academic excellence and enriching personal experiences,” says Matthieu Dumont, Director of the Suzhou campus. He adds: “The start of a new semester always brings a special energy to the campus, and this year is no exception.”

In Nanjing, a welcome filled with local craftsmanship and traditions

Meanwhile, SKEMA's Nanjing campus, operating through the International Joint Audit Institute (Nanjing Audit University-SKEMA) established in 2020, welcomed a group of undergraduate and postgraduate students for this new semester. Once again, a series of cultural and academic integration activities was organised to help students adapt to their new campus. One of the highlights was the lacquer fan-making workshop, where students had the chance to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese craftsmanship. “Our promise is to offer an academic experience that is both globally relevant and locally grounded,” explains Wenyu Dou, Academic Dean of the Institute and Academic Director of SKEMA China. “Our students gain invaluable exposure to international business practices while absorbing the rich cultural heritage of China.”
