SKEMA Business School has been recognised at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Trophies, organised by the United Nations Global Compact France*. The school won the award in the "Youth Engagement" category, recognising its ongoing efforts to involve young people in discussions and initiatives aimed at creating a more sustainable future.

In May 2024, SKEMA submitted its candidacy for the SDGs Trophies, an initiative that rewards organisations actively contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, outlined in the 2030 Agenda. The school stood out in the "Youth Engagement" category, thanks to its innovative approach and commitment to raising awareness and mobilising young people around environmental and societal challenges. This award follows the creation of the Higher Education for Good Foundation, which brings together more than 80 international institutions, such as the UN and UNESCO, to lead projects like the first global survey on youth and their vision of the future. "This trophy highlights our commitment to embedding the SDGs into our strategy. Our approach is based on three pillars – Diversity, Decarbonisation, and Digital for Good – which permeate all our activities, from teaching to research, for the benefit of our students and in cooperation with the local ecosystems surrounding our campuses." explains Isabelle Jauny, SKEMA Transitions director.

SKEMA Transitions: spearheading a sustainable future strategy

Since the launch of SKEMA Transitions in 2022, the school has adopted a comprehensive sustainable transformation strategy centred around the 3D Plan: Diversity, Decarbonisation, and Digital for Good. These three drivers form the foundation of SKEMA’s efforts in sustainable development and social responsibility. The goal is to instil the values and principles of responsible management in the new generation while fostering a collective awareness of climate and social issues. "The SDGs and the 2030 Agenda guide our long-term actions. Through our '3D' policy, we address key sectors essential for a sustainable future. By 2027, we aim for 50% of our research publications to be directly linked to one or more SDGs," explained Alice Guilhon, Dean and Executive President of SKEMA Business School.

MOVE FOR GOOD: an emblematic project

Launched in April 2024, the MOVE FOR GOOD programme embodies SKEMA’s dedication to involving students in projects with social and environmental impact. This initiative allows students on international exchange programmes to design and implement projects that benefit local communities, thereby enhancing their learning and fostering civic engagement. This project will be rolled out by 80 students from the new Dubai campus as part of the Middle East Interculture course, starting in September 2024.

Youth engagement at the heart of SKEMA's mission

By joining the ranks of the SDG Trophies winners, SKEMA Business School reaffirms its role as a pioneer in sustainable education and youth mobilisation for a better future. This new accolade, following the DD&RS label obtained in 2023, underscores the school’s collective commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility.
