SKEMA shines at the Solvay Business Game with a negotiation challenge victory
On 14 and 15 March, Marine Martin and Luca Temst, students in the MSc Business Consulting & Digital Intelligence (BCDI) at SKEMA Business School, proudly represented their school at the Solvay Business Game (SBG), Europe's largest business game, co-organised with McKinsey. Their first official participation was marked by a prestigious victory in the Negotiation Challenge
Facing nearly 300 students from across the continent and beyond, the two SKEMA students tackled a highly demanding competition, testing their strategic thinking, decision-making, and negotiation skills. Over two intense days, they took on three major challenges:
- Pitch Challenge, sponsored by McKinsey
- Negotiation Challenge, sponsored by BDO
- Finance Challenge, sponsored by CACEIS
A unique academic and personal experience
For Marine Martin, MSc Strategic Management & Consulting student this event is an experience every student should seize: "Taking part in a business game is something everyone should do at least once. It’s an incredible experience where you learn a lot, meet inspiring people, and build connections with leading companies such as McKinsey. As students, it puts us in real-life conditions, as case studies are a common exercise in the consulting field." For those aiming for a career in consulting, this competition is particularly relevant.
Luca Temst highlights its strategic value: "Participating in an event like the SBG is a unique opportunity to meet professionals and students from all over Europe, expand your network, and build strategic connections. For me, as I prepare for a career in consulting, it is a chance to make well-thought-out moves and establish relationships that, I believe, will be crucial to my professional development on a European scale."
A victory with a lasting impact
The Negotiation Challenge, sponsored by BDO, was the defining moment of the competition for SKEMA’s duo. Marine Martin credits her academic background for their success:
"I was lucky to have an outstanding negotiation professor during my exchange semester in Vietnam, which played a significant role in our victory."
This first participation also resonated beyond the competition, thanks to a takeover of SKEMA’s Instagram account throughout the event. This allowed the entire SKEMA community to follow their journey in real time and be part of the adventure.
"Beyond personal growth, this commitment carries a collective dimension: it is about making SKEMA shine and inspiring future students. Together, we help enhance the visibility of our degrees, our school, and the companies we will join tomorrow," concludes Luca Temst.
