EconomicsDr Bournakis is an Associate Professor in Economics at SKEMA Business School, Lille, France. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Kent after earning an MA in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Manchester. Ioannis joined Middlesex University as a Lecturer in 2008 and served the Institution as a Senior Lecturer up to 2021. He has previously taught at Birkbeck College, Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of Kent, and the University of Greenwich. During his research leave between 2019 and 2020, Ioannis was an Associate Professor in Economics at the American University (AUC) in Cairo. His research interests (in broad terms) lie within the areas of Macroeconomics, Productivity, Spillovers, International Trade, and Innovation. He has recently published in Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of International Moiney and Finance, the BE Journal of Macreconomics, the International Journal of Production Economics, Economic Letters, Economic Inquiry, Review of Income and Wealth, Regional Studies, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Economic Modelling.
