SKEMA alumnus Benjamin Ferré conquers Transat Jacques-Vabre, sets sail for a solo return
Benjamin Ferré, an alumnus of SKEMA Business School, has achieved the remarkable feat of finishing his first Transat Jacques-Vabre race as a skipper. After a brief period of rest in Martinique (about a week), he is now embarking on a solo journey back to Lorient.
In this gruelling race that lasted 13 days, 20 hours, 41 minutes, and 12 seconds, our skipper and alumnus Benjamin Ferré (SKEMA 2015) and his co-skipper, Pierre Le Roy from Lille, crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre in 13th position. Onboard the "Monnoyeur – DUO for a JOB", they clinched the first place in the straight-keel category, in contrast to the faster foil boats.
Shortly after arriving in Martinique, Benjamin is setting off again on 30 November, 5 pm, for Lorient, this time on a solo voyage that counts towards his qualification for the Vendée Globe. He faces a challenging 6,500-kilometre journey through potentially unpredictable winter weather conditions in the northern hemisphere.
