SKEMA student gifts the school 'Terre Dévotion' - a masterpiece from his family's art studio

Maxime François, a student in the Master in Management (PGE) programme, currently completing his end-of-studies internship at LVMH, has recently gifted SKEMA Business School with an artwork titled "Terre Dévotion," created by his father, painter Éric François. The piece will be displayed at the Grand Paris campus.

The son of Burgundian painter Éric François, Maxime has been immersed in an artistic environment from a young age. Along with his siblings, he is dedicated to raising awareness about his father's work through the creation of the family workshop La Maison François. "Art has always been part of my life. My father passed this passion on to me, and I am committed to promoting his work. At La Maison François, I take care of the communication and marketing aspects," he states.

"Terre Dévotion": a symbolic canvas

The donated canvas is no ordinary piece of art. Painted earlier in the summer, it bears the title "Terre Dévotion" and was personally handed over to Alice Guilhon, the dean and executive president of SKEMA Business School.

"This canvas is red, which is SKEMA's brand colour. The colour symbolises intensity, vitality, and energy. It represents a radiant and warm Earth, and embodies values such as solidarity, humanism, and diversity, which are inherent to SKEMA. Lastly, this canvas invites us to marvel at every moment of life on the unique and fragile Earth, which we must honourably pass on to the younger generation," explains Maxime François. He has just concluded his academic journey after a brilliant course that took him to San Francisco State University for five months and to UCLA in Los Angeles for nine months. He will receive his degree in 2024.
