SKEMA graduate appointed as Benin's foreign affairs minister
Olushegun Adjadi Bakari (SKEMA graduate, 2005) has been appointed as the foreign affairs minister of Benin, West Africa, by its president, Patrice Talon. An expert in finance, he has been instrumental in Africa's energy transition.
Olushegun Adjadi Bakari (SKEMA 2005) honed his skills at large French banks (Société Générale) and European automotive groups (BMW France, etc.).
Very active in the energy transition of the African continent
Before taking over the Benin ministry in June 2023, Olushegun worked as an economic advisor to the Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbé, from 2016 to 2021. Until recently, he dedicated himself to his role as a partner of the investment fund Atif (Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund), which enabled him to take the lead of MAuto, a startup committed to transition and specialised in the distribution of electric scooters and motorcycles in Benin and Togo. About the latter, he voiced his views in the Jeune Afrique magazine: "This project goes beyond mobility. MAuto aims to be an energy provider. Once removed, our motorcycles' batteries can also be placed in homes to power our clients' electrical installations."
We wish Olushegun every success in his new responsibilities!
