SKEMA Nanjing: students explore industry integration at NISCO
On 17 May, more than 30 students from the International Joint Audit Institute (co-founded by SKEMA and Nanjing Audit University) embarked on a visit to Nanjing Iron & Steel United Co., Ltd (NISCO) and the Nanjing Iron & Steel Museum.
The visit, organised as part of the Production and Operations Management course, aimed to integrate classroom learning with real-world industry experience.
Accompanied by their professors and industry experts, the students first visited NISCO, a leading steel manufacturing company renowned for its technological innovations and commitment to sustainability. The visit provided the students a unique opportunity to witness the intricacies of production and operations management in a real-world setting.
Academic visit to enhance practical understanding
During the tour, the students were guided through various departments and witnessed first-hand the manufacturing processes, quality control measures, and safety protocols implemented by NISCO. The company's representatives shared valuable insights on optimising production efficiency, maintaining product quality, and ensuring a safe working environment.
In addition to the visit to the steel manufacturing facility, the students also had the privilege of exploring the Nanjing Iron & Steel Museum, a repository of historical artifacts and exhibits showcasing the evolution of the iron and steel industry in Nanjing. The museum visit provided a broader perspective on the industry's rich history and its significant contributions to the region's economic growth.
The collaborative effort between the International Joint Audit Institute and NISCO exemplifies the commitment to providing students with a holistic learning experience. By integrating industry visits and practical training into the curriculum, educational institutions can better prepare students for the demands of the professional world.
