Life-size statues of Leon placed at the Grand Paris campus
Two statues representing the different ‘moods’ of Leon the SKAMELEON, SKEMA's mascot, have been placed at the Grand Paris campus this month. These life-size statues come straight from the workshops of the prominent Povigna family, carnival specialists, based in Nice.
Even when it comes to its favourite mascot, SKEMA never forgets its roots! In February, the KCenter on the Grand Paris campus received a surprise visit from Leon the SKAMELEON with two new statues to brighten up the hectic days of SKEMA students. These statues have brought with them the spirit of the Nice carnival at the campus!
Made by a family from Nice
Designed in the south of France, not far from the Sophia Antipolis campus, the Leon statues were created by the incredibly talented craftsmen of the Nice-based company Concept Evenementiel, owned by the Povigna family. For decades, this lineage of carnival workers has propelled the Nice carnival to stratospheric heights through their unprecedented burlesque creations. A while ago, a giant animated scorpion had come out of the Povigna family's hangars to amaze the public.
A local partnership
With the Leon statues, SKEMA reaffirms the glocal character of its positioning by choosing to work with companies such as Concept Evenementiel, located near its Sophia Antipolis campus.
