AFNOR conference in Lille: Responsible purchasing for sustainable and ecological consumption

On 15 March 2024, the AFNOR group and the Conseil National des Achats des Hauts-de-France organised a conference on responsible purchasing on the Lille campus.

​​​The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to debate the following question: is responsible purchasing a revolution or an evolution in the purchasing function?

Maximilian Rech, scientific director of SKEMA's Mastère Spécialisé® in Supply C​hain Management and Purchasing, emphasised that "Purchasing is a lever for the ecological transition towards a more responsible future characterised by sustainable consumption. Starting with the definition of objectives and needs rather than a list of purchases".

The conference was structured around two round tables: the first, chaired by Isabelle Bufflier​​, Professor of Law and Business Ethics at SKEMA​, explored the link between public and private purchasing, while the second, chaired by Maximilian Rech​ and Bruno Frel, Responsible Purchasing Expert at AFNOR, ​examined the cross-perspectives o​f public and private purchasers.

Nearly 120 companies and local authorities attended, bringing together players from the public and private purchasing sectors. SKEMA students, professionals and experts shared their visions and practices throughout the morning, with the notable participation of personalities such as :
