12 doughnuts - 5 miles - 1 hour
Early February, a dozen SKEMA students, along with the student office manager, Najette Outtas, and finance professor, Dr Michael Lee, formed the "Crème de la SK’reme" team and took part in one of Raleigh’s most fun traditions.
The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an annual charity event in which participants run a five-mile (8 km) road course leading to a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop, they eat 12 doughnuts (totaling 2,400 calories), and run back to the finish line in under one hour. Over 4000 people participated this year, and SKEMA M1 student Raphaël Borderies finished first in the non-challenger category.
A nationally publicised charity race
What started as a challenge among friends in 2004 has transformed into a nationally publicised charity race, and the number one tradition to complete before graduating from North Carolina State University. SKEMA students have been taking part in this fun tradition for many years.
All funds raised through this event are donated to the UNC Children's Hospital, a specialty-designed hospital located near Raleigh that caters to the needs of sick or injured children and their families.
