Executives participating in the SKEMA GEMBA programme visit Brazil for classes, lectures and workshops exploring the local context.
From March 7 – 11, ten participants of SKEMA Business School's Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) enjoyed an immersion experience during the residential week in the Brazilian corporate and cultural environment.
As part of the programme, participants of the Global MBA make week-long visits to different SKEMA campuses to see the realities of each market. Among the activities in the Brazilian residential week, participants attended several lectures, classes, and workshops, with focus on the theme “The Transformation Imperative”, supervised by Fabien Seraidarian, the GEMBA director. The subject covered aspects from the current global environment presenting hot topics, such as the need to assess ESG issues, to the challenges of promoting internal change in organisations.
As part of the immersion, students visited Patrus Transportes (a logistics company), and BH Tech (an innovation hub), accompanied by Geneviève Poulingue, SKEMA Brazil’s dean, and learned from digital transformation in Hermes Pardini, a local player in the healthcare industry.
In addition, the BH Airport played an important role on the programme: They provided participants with the opportunity to elaborate a proposal to a challenge they were given: “How to promote sustainable service solutions while preserving value generation to shareholders?”. The task was given to the participants on the kick-off day, and they received feedback to their proposed solutions from a panel of executives from BH Airport at the week's closing session. The initiative aimed at providing a productive exchange between the academy and the organisation, in a mutually beneficial experience.
"We are all facing the challenge of a fast-changing and transformative environment, that requires innovative and creative initiatives for organisations to achieve long-term sustainability", explained Prof. Monica Carvalho, from SKEMA Brazil.
