Dean and executive president of SKEMA, Alice Guilhon, participated at the third edition of the event, organised in partnership with the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce. The third edition of the Pensar o Futuro event was held on the 9th of February, with the theme “Education for Society”.

Promoted by SKEMA with the support of the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, the event had a hybrid format and took place, simultaneously, in the auditorium of the SKEMA Brazil campus and on the SKEMA channel on Youtube.

Higher education in a post-pandemic context

Alice Guilhon, dean and executive president of SKEMA, visiting SKEMA Brazil, spoke about higher education in a post-pandemic global scenario and highlighted what were the main lessons learned by higher education institutions during social distancing worldwide. According to her, the remote teaching model adopted by most colleges and universities and seen as the “future of education” is not necessarily what students want. For the dean, students want mobility, interaction and global exposure.

Throughout the event, Alice Guilhon reaffirmed how important it is to maintain the idea of SKEMA's global teaching model. "We work to ensure that there are no major differences between campuses around the world, which characterises the global brand. However, such different cultures and societies need to be seen in their own light. Our intention is to work with the country, not in the country”, explained Guilhon.

The event was closed by Professor Edgar Jacobs, coordinator of law courses at SKEMA, who spoke about the challenges posed by a model of law across borders. He discussed the translation and interpretation of laws from other countries and how SKEMA gives its students the ability to study one or more semesters outside Brazil.

The event included participation of professionals in education in Belo Horizonte, SKEMA staff, guests of the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, in addition to Franco-Brazilian companies.
