Alexandre Grand-Guillot, SKEMA’s very own aquaman
Twenty-four-year-old Alexandre Grand-Guillot, from the Manche department in France, is one of the upcoming names in French windsurfing. In September 2021, the young man joined SKEMA’s Global BBA programme at the Sophia Antipolis campus. An interview of the athlete who wants to make it big.
Followed by a community of over 10,500 fans on his Instagram account, Alexandre Grand-Guillot spends a lot of time over the turbulent waters of the Channel. The 2019 French Youth Champion in the "Wavesailing" discipline, the student is giving his all to enter the professional circuit through rigorous training and perseverance.
On his windsurf board, the Cherbourg native has been leaping 10 metres above the waves since he was a young boy. "I started windsurfing when I was nine. It was my dad who made me want to try windsurfing, as he did a lot of it. Today, I practice in all types of weather, from spring to winter," says the third-year Global BBA student.
Gaining new knowledge at SKEMA
The young man, who is supported by the Manche department and is an ambassador for the famous Norman clothing brand Saint James, has a real taste for marketing and management. This is why he decided to join SKEMA's Global BBA in September 2021. "I want to build my knowledge base so that I can apply for roles in the fields of marketing and management, for example. I enjoy what I'm studying," he says.
Support for top-level athletes
Constantly on the road, between his classes at SKEMA and the waves of his native region Normandy, Alexandre Grand-Guillot appreciates the support he enjoys from the school. "I've been pleasantly surprised since I arrived; you really do feel supported here, and it's tremendously reassuring. My integration here was perfect and very professional, in terms of my sporting and academic goals," says the sportsperson.
Life as a windsurfer
In January 2022, Alexandre Grand-Guillot launched a series of videos titled "Alex's World", in which we can watch him go about his daily life, in the arms of his sea, the Channel, between the sky and the waves, searching for the plunge in the weather that will send him leaping into the air.
