SKEMA Brazil director Geneviève Poulingue awarded French National Order of Merit

Geneviève Poulingue, director of our Belo Horizonte campus, has been appointed as a Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit) by the French Ambassador to Brazil, Emmanuel Lenain. Deeply involved in the development of higher education in Brazil, Geneviève is also active within the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce in Minas Gerais.

​​Since 2017, Geneviève Poulingue has been leading SKEMA Business School's Belo Horizonte campus​ in Minas Gerais. Her main mission is to consolidate and expand SKEMA's academic programmes while facilitating student mobility between the two countries. Through to her leadership, SKEMA established a legal entity in Brazil in 2018 and integrated a graduação (bachelor's) programme in administration tailored to its international model. Consequently, the degrees awarded by SKEMA in Brazil are recognised by the relevant Brazilian authorities.

 

Roles in ​​consular bodies

 

Geneviève has been the president of the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce chapter in Minas Gerais (CCI France-Brésil Minas Gerais – CCIFB MG) since March 2023. She works closely with local and international institutions to promote economic and educational exchanges. Among her key partners are the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce in Minas Gerais, the Alliance Française of Belo Horizonte, and various academic and economic stakeholders. She has also been an advisor for France's foreign trade (CCE) since 2020.


A vision for the future in Brazi​l with SKEMA

 

Under Geneviève's leadership, SKEMA continues to grow and welcome an increasing number of Brazilian and international students. She is also involved in developing new programmes in law and distance learning, as well as seeking new opportunities to enhance SKEMA's impact in Brazil. "This distinction is given in recognition of the contributions and influence of French higher education on the academic landscape of Minas Gerais and the involvement in welcoming international students, many of whom are French," explained Geneviève Poulingue in her speech.

​This recognition of Geneviève's contributions in Minas Gerais reflects her dedication and impact within the Franco-Brazilian higher education sector and the local economic fabric.
