SKEMA students obtain 100% success rate in the DCL exam

SKEMA Business School, accredited as a preparation centre for Diplôme de Compétence en Langue, or DCL (‘Language Proficiency Diploma’), has obtained a 100% success rate for its students who took the exam this year. The DCL exam is useful for providing evidence of French language ability to the prefectural authorities. It complements the CLOE (French as a Foreign Language) certification, delivered by the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI). The latter also confirms the knowledge gained through courses funded by the French CPF (personal training account). Within a few years, both the DCL and CLOE have become reference tools for companies and individuals.

The DCL is awarded following an in-depth assessment of reading and listening comprehension, as well as written and oral expression. The exam takes the form of a case study that involves various tasks, just as in the workplace. "The exam is not about the candidate's knowledge but rather their capacity to use the French language in a given situation. In a professional context, the candidate studies different documents before participating in a role play with an examiner and, in the end, produces a written report," explains Etienne André, SKEMA's language training centre manager for Executive Education.

Professional certification

The DCL is a national language diploma created for adults by the French National Education System. It meets the needs of the business world in terms of using the French language in an ordinary and professional context.

It's particularly useful for foreign nationals who want to begin the process of obtaining the French nationality, or international students looking to apply for a position in France and demonstrating their linguistic skills to an employer.
