Aspiring 'made in SKEMA' lawyers to defend famous defendants in March

The business contract law double degree is staging its Grand Procès (Grand Trial) day event on 14 March at SKEMA Business School’s Lille campus. During this exercise co-organised with PwC Luxembourg, students will try their hand at defending famous characters from pop culture and contemporary society!

This year, the Master 2 students will be defending their fictitious clients (Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Karim Benzema, etc.) in front of a panel of professors and lawyers. Laurence Briata – lawyer, Diane de Saint-Affrique – professor and researcher at SKEMA, Grégory Bourdrez – lawyer, Isabelle Lapeyronnie – lawyer; Olivier Lutun – lecturer at the Université Polytechnique des Hauts-de-France, Quentin Ramaget – legal operations officer at Sienna Investments Managers, and David Schaeffer – tax partner at PwC Luxembourg, will be in charge of assessing the students' defencess.

Hands-on experience

While the grand trial day is a lot of fun for the students, it is also extremely useful. This is because in addition to the teaching provided by the master's programme, it enables them to practise in real conditions for the Bar exam. It is highly appreciated by the students after their studies at SKEMA.

Training for posts in the legal field

The Master's in Business Contract Law is a double degree that was formed through a partnership between SKEMA and Université Polytechnique des Hauts-de-France (UPHF). At the end of their academic careers, students receive a Master in Management degree from SKEMA and a Master's in Business Contract Law degree from UPHF. They can then choose to work for law firms within and outside France, auditing and consulting firms, human resources departments, investment banks, as tax specialists, notaries or in the legal departments of national and international companies.

Grand Trial Day: Tuesday, 14 March, from 9 am to 6 pm, lecture hall A, Lille campus
