SKEMA China: industry experts discuss developments in sustainability
Last month, SKEMA’s Global DBA in Sustainability programme organised a forum titled Sustainable Development Strategies and Trends of Chinese Enterprises in the VUCA Era. This hybrid event was held at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI France Chine) in Shanghai, and online.
Fabien Pacory, "Off-Grid Climate Autonomy for Building" broad advisor - head of Asia Development, and Mengyuan Liao, expert on sustainability at Kingfa Science & Technology Co., shared their insights about fascinating opportunities in sustainability, net zero, and circular economy in China.
Wenyu Dou, academic dean of SKEMA China and director of the programme, introduced the DBA programme. Sylvain Fourrière, consul general of France in Guangzhou, congratulated the global launch of this unique DBA programme. Matthieu Dumont, campus director of SKEMA China, hosted the forum and introduced the school's SKY25 strategic plan.
Sustainability, net zero, and circular economy
Fabien Pacory analysed the overall trends in sustainability across the world by referring updated documentation and statistics. Following the macro-level analysis, he focused on sustainable practices in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
"China is leading in putting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals into place, which can be demonstrated by the launch of Guangzhou Emissions Exchange in 2019. Green finance is no longer a concept, but a down-to-earth measure," he explained.
Mengyuan Liao highlighted how Kingfa Science & Technology Co., a leading supplier of recyclable materials globally, was committed to sustainable development. According to the expert, the promising industry provided increasing business opportunities because of favourable policy support and tremendous market demand.
Sustainability and new leadership
On January 11, the Global DBA programme organised another forum titled Sustainability, Uncertainty and the Need for Effective Leadership.
The forum's keynote speaker, Prof. Chris Rowley, visiting fellow of Kellogg College, University of Oxford, shared his insights on sustainability and effective leadership during uncertain times. Both the programme directors, Prof. Christian Linder (Paris campus) and Prof. Wenyu Dou (Suzhou campus), attended the event. Prof. Linder introduced the DBA programme.
