Students from Brazil campus in Startup Weekend Youth
Professors and students from SKEMA Business School took part in a mentoring game during an event focussed on entrepreneurship and youth in partnership with SKEMA Ventures, SKEMA's incubator-accelerator.
Organised by Techstars, in conjunction with SKEMA Ventures, Startup Weekend Youth is a global event that takes place over three days, with total immersion in the world of entrepreneurship.
Organised in 170 countries, Startup Weekend aims to challenge participants to build a startup from scratch, in merely 54 hours.
Coming up with innovative solutions
The experience is made all the more interesting by mentoring and teaching techniques and methods specific to the world of entrepreneurship. The ultimate goal is for participants to pitch a startup project with an innovative solution that will meet a market need.
"I realised how well SKEMA had prepared me"
At the end of the third day, the startups were presented to a special jury composed of professors, representatives of large companies, accelerators and investors, during which the three best projects were awarded by the jury. "I looked at the level and background of the other mentors and wondered what I was doing there. Then I realised how well SKEMA had prepared me during my two and a half years in the Global BBA programme when I was able to provide solutions to problems that were presented to me," says Rafael Lage, a BBA programme student.
The winners of the challenge were awarded mentoring sessions with SKEMA Ventures experts.
