In the third issue of Glimpse, SKEMA Business School explores how businesses are embracing artificial intelligence (AI). Whether enhancing value creation processes or shaping the augmented employee, AI practices are being embedded within the framework of machine versus tool: is AI an extension of human capabilities, or is it becoming an increasingly autonomous entity? Either way, AI is profoundly redefining organisational dynamics, jobs, and growth strategies. SKEMA alumni, now pioneers in AI integration within their businesses, alongside SKEMA faculty and major industry players such as Microsoft, share their insights on AI’s impact on managerial practices and high-level decision-making.

AI: a revolution reshaping business practices

Pierre-Louis Bescond (SKEMA 2004), Head of Data & Advanced Analytics at Roquette, is a tangible example of this ongoing transformation within businesses. He explains how RoqueGPT, an in-house AI platform, optimises production and improves day-to-day performance at Roquette, a group specialising in plant-based ingredient production. In Glimpse, Bescond describes how AI has changed the way Roquette’s teams work, emphasising its indispensability, particularly in error detection. Meanwhile, Mehdi Labassi, Chief Technology Officer at Carrefour and another SKEMA alumnus, plays a strategic role by integrating AI into the company’s data management processes. Labassi explains that these innovations have made Carrefour more efficient and precise in its decision-making, demonstrating how AI can revolutionise the way businesses handle information.

 

Academic expertise: guiding decision-making with AI

Glimpse also delves into how AI and its various forms are fundamentally reshaping innovation and growth strategies for businesses. SKEMA alumni who have successfully integrated AI into their companies, along with SKEMA faculty, share their expertise in this issue to illustrate AI’s impact on managerial practices, data, and decision-making. Experts such as Christophe Bisson, a specialist in decision intelligence, and Marcos Lima, a professor involved in SKEMA’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence, embody the school’s forward-thinking vision. Through their research and teachings, they show how AI is becoming a strategic lever, not only to optimise performance but also to redefine talent management and ethical decision-making within businesses.

 

Employees, you must learn AI

In this issue, SKEMA hands the microphone to Éneric Lopez, Director of the national AI initiative at Microsoft France. He addresses the crucial need for employee training in AI, highlights the current challenges associated with the rapid adoption of this technology, and discusses Microsoft’s strategies to democratise AI access within French companies. Lopez also stresses the importance of overcoming fears about the potential disappearance of certain jobs.
