Abstract
Financial Integration and Regional Governance in North Africa : lessons and scenarios
With the international financial crisis, some countries may abandon the process of financial integration. This could be counterproductive. Regional financial integration would enable the countries of the sub-region to better address the crisis collectively. To strengthen the financial integration, experts from five AMU (Arab Maghreb Union) countries developed in 2006 in Morocco a roadmap that is not enough.
In this article, the study of different experiments Asian, African, European, suggests that the process of financial integration is a parallel and progressive process. It should be flexible to allow all members to find their interests (variable geometry process).
These lessons are used to determine the five essential steps for the establishment of a deep financial and monetary integration in North of Africa.
