Abstract

Face patterns of CAC 40 : the persistence of the French elite Faced with numerous financial scandals, interest is growing in regard to the CEOs of big companies. Special mention is given to France, whose tradition for cultivating an elite leadership is over a century old. More than half of the leaders of the CAC 40 have graduated from Polytechnical school or ENA. In this article, I explore the question of whether a real upheaval in the profile of big bosses has taken place following numerous controversies. I also provide insight into the characteristics of elite power and a longitudinal descriptive analysis of the portrait of the number ones of CAC 40 from 1990 to 2010.
