Back to school: international students return to the Suzhou campus

SKEMA Business School's Suzhou campus is welcoming a new cohort of international students from 7 different countries this academic year. As soon as they arrived, they were able to visit the old town of Tongli, in Suzhou. Immersion.

For the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Suzhou campus opened its doors wide to welcome students from all over the world, rekindling the dynamic intercultural atmosphere that is the essence of SKEMA. To get a feel for their host country, the students embarked on an enriching tour of Suzhou's Tongli Old Town. "The start of this semester embodies the resilience of our global academic community. It is truly heart-warming to see the return of students from the four corners of the world. It symbolises not only reconnection, but also continuity in our commitment to providing a transformative educational experience," said Matthieu Dumont, Suzhou Campus Director.

Embracing culture

The visit to Tongli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its classical Chinese architecture, narrow streets lined with wooden houses and picturesque canals and arched bridges. "What surprised me most was simply the sheer number of things to do both on campus and in Suzhou as a whole. We were made very welcome by the school, and the teachers are friendly and approachable." explains Mns Lofvenhamn, a Swedish student on the MSc International Business programme.

The coming semester promises a mix of in-depth learning and cultural exchange. As students immerse themselves in their programme of study, they will also take part in a series of cultural events, including language classes, traditional art workshops and culinary adventures.
