March 29, the SKEMA Suzhou campus signed a partnership agreement with Decathlon, the world’s biggest sporting goods retailer, in China to boost the school’s talent and career development in terms of student recruitment and corporate relations in China.

The sporting goods giant will set up an employment and internship base dedicated to internships, training, and scientific research for SKEMA, according to the agreement.

Prioritise SKEMA’s graduates

Decathlon pledged to prioritise SKEMA’s graduates and provide them with a dozen of positions each year.

“SKEMA China is very pleased to reinforce its strong links with Decathlon, a worldwide leader for sports equipment and products. Given exclusive activities and priority recruitment provided by Decathlon China, this important partnership will benefit SKEMA’s students,” explained Matthieu Dumont, SKEMA Suzhou campus director.

The agreement was not set up by chance, but resulted from a yearslong connection. SKEMA Suzhou and Decathlon China have worked together over the years to hold various career activities such as virtual career fairs, company presentations and visits in a bid to help employer branding and provide more recruitment opportunities for students.

A solid foundation for establishing the partnership

April Yang, SKEMA Suzhou’s career advisor, further explains: “Decathlon China was fully engaged in our fall 2022 virtual career fair, and received more than 60 applications for different positions. The satisfying results laid a solid foundation for establishing the partnership.”

Besides the long-term partnership, SKEMA has been committed to inviting professionals from the high-tier companies, including Xiaomi, JCDecaux, Lincoln Group, Lockin China, and Career Mentor Consulting, to hold career workshops to get students prepared for internship/job seeking.

In the last months, SKEMA Suzhou also communicated a large number of employment opportunities to students from Hermes, Estee Lauder, Value Retail, Decathlon, Lincoln and many other companies.
