Diane de Saint-Affrique takes keen interest in the implications of artificial intelligence on civil society. In 2021, the SKEMA professor participated in a white paper on the subject and wrote an article on the connection between AI and medicine.

Diane de Saint-Affrique is the Director of the double degree in Business Contract Law (UPHF X SKEMA). She is a member of the working group on ethics in artificial intelligence of the Hauts-de-France region's "Cité de l'Intelligence artificielle" hub (a MEDEF Lille Métropole initiative).

With other researchers, local authorities and companies, the legal expert published a white paper in 2021 on artificial intelligence, in conjunction with the activities of the ethics group. "The goal of this working group is to write recommendations on the impact of AI and ethical rules on the business world. At the same time, we look closely at man/machine responsibility and also at the regional and national impact of artificial intelligence. We want to warn, to give pause for thought, and to train," says Diane de Saint-Affrique.

An article on the link between artificial intelligence and medicine

In 2021, Diane de Saint-Affrique published the article "Artificial intelligence: what ethical and legal rules for responsible AI?" in CNRS's Médecine et Droit ('Medicine and law') journal. In this article, the professor focused on the new applications of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine: preventive medicine, precision medicine, robot-assisted surgery, etc. She used this overview to raise the question, among others, of the legitimacy and the acceptability of decisions made by algorithms.
