North Carolina secretary of state visits US campus

In July, SKEMA's Raleigh campus had the honour of welcoming North Carolina secretary of state, Elaine F. Marshall, the first woman ever elected to a statewide, executive branch office in North Carolina, USA.

Secretary Marshall came to speak to a group of French students and teachers who were in Raleigh for a three-week immersion programme hosted by SKEMA US.

She shared about her background, from teaching economics at public schools and community colleges to the practice of private law, her current role and experience in office since 1996, and her dedication to areas such as women's issues, child welfare, and agriculture and small town economic development. She delivered a thorough presentation followed by an extensive Q&A, allowing the attendees to ask their (many) questions and gain a deeper understanding of the political, judicial and cultural landscape in North Carolina and in the US.

She truly captivated the audience with her story, strong sense of dedication and determination. All attendees were grateful for her time, her insightful presentation, and for the opportunity to exchange with her on a variety of topics.
