Laurent Ferrara, professor in international economics at SKEMA and world expert in economic forecasts, has just been elected by his peers to the Board of the International Institute of Forecasters for a four-year term.

He is the only French member of the board that mostly represent English and American institutions. His mission will be to contribute to the organisation of conferences, summer schools and thematic workshops.

The IIF is an American non-profit organisation. With some 1300 members, the association aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in forecasting methods. All fields are represented within the institution: macroeconomics, finance, supply chain, climate, sports, artificial intelligence through large companies such as Amazon, Google, Meta, SAS, etc.

Many scientific papers

IIF publishes the International Journal of Forecasting, an academic journal of rank 2, as well as a journal for practitioners: Foresight. The IIF organises a symposium every summer which brings together about 450 professors-researchers and professionals. This year it was held at Oxford University from 10 to 13 July 2022. In 2023 it will be held at Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
