SKEMA alumnus Benjamin Ferré finishes 4th in the Vendée Arctique 2022

Benjamin Ferré, an alumnus of SKEMA Business School and a sailor-adventurer supported by the school, has finished 4th in the Vendée Arctique race, behind three experienced skippers: Charlie Dalin, Jérémie Beyou and Thomas Ruyant. This excellent performance bodes well for the upcoming Route du Rhum in October and the Vendée Globe in 2024.

Benjamin Ferré (SKEMA 2015) finished fourth in the Vendée Arctique. This single-handed, non-stop, non-assisted race is the first qualifying race for the 2024 Vendée Globe. The boats left Les Sables d'Olonne on Sunday, 12 June, to begin a journey that would take them to the Arctic Circle.

Back to Les Sables d'Olonne

After an eventful race, which was interrupted off the coast of Iceland due to high winds and bad weather, the Malouin sailor took the lead for a while aboard his Imoca class boat "Monnoyeur - Duo For A Job", supported by SKEMA. He was initially ahead of other participants, even though they had more modern boats, but was confronted with very unfavourable weather conditions.

About twenty days after the official launch of his Imoca in Brittany, Benjamin Ferré has displayed a fine performance. The Skemien skipper is now heading for the port of Les Sables d'Olonne where he is expected to arrive on the evening of 22 June. Out of the 25 sailors who entered in the race, 20 managed to reach Iceland.

Congratulations Benjamin!
