SKEMA China: academic workshops enrich learning experience

Following the first workshop “How to be an active learner” last semester, SKEMA's Pedagogical Innovation department has been working again with the Suzhou campus's student office to hold a series of workshops to facilitate Chinese students’ learning on the China campus.

This term's workshop themes include the following topics:

  • References and citations
  • How to work in groups
  • How to write an academic essay
  • How to read academically
  • How to do a peer assessment
Aimed at helping Chinese students adapt to an English-speaking learning environment, the workshops are also expected to provide the knowledge to improve research ability and teamwork, which are missed in Chinese universities.

After attending the five workshops, students will have acquired the necessary knowledge to master academic writing skills and will have improved teamwork skills.

After the References and Citations workshop, one student explained:
“Actually, it is difficult for Chinese students to provide references because we don't get training on that in university. I hope we have more training like this", noted one of the participants in the first session.

Apart from the workshops, constant support will be given to students to improve their learning experience at the Suzhou campus.
