SKEMA gears up for European Sustainable Development Week with conferences and exhibitions

For the European Sustainable Development Week, SKEMA is organising a series of online mini-conferences on 26 September, hosted by the school’s faculty. Two exhibitions dedicated to nature and biodiversity have also been planned. This initiative aims to highlight SKEMA's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote the diversity of expertise within its teaching staff.

The faculty is preparing for the organisation of the European Sustainable Development Week on Tuesday, 26 September. On the agenda are mini conferences, which are being organised online via Teams and hosted by around thirty professors from SKEMA's various campuses across the world, including France, the United States, Brazil, and China. Each speaker will have a 15-minute slot to discuss various topics, related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Diversity, decarbonisation, greenwashing, ESG criteria, climate change, action-based learning, ecological literacy, energy, and sustainable finance are some of the topics that will be covered. Isabelle Jauny, director of SKEMA Transitions, explains this initiative, "Our approach stems from the observation that 50% of the research articles published by SKEMA's faculty are related to sustainable development goals, which is why we thought organising these mini conferences could make sense." She adds, "These conferences will give the involved professors an opportunity to speak to a diverse range of students that are not in their cohort, and also the entire SKEMA community."

From 18 to 23 September, the Sophia Antipolis campus will host the "Butterflies of the World" exhibition by Maxime Beck, in partnership with the "Birds and Nature" association. A series of drawings and photos will be presented to showcase the richness and diversity of butterflies from across the world.

·     Biodiversity, Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Linked by GoodPlanet Foundation

From 25 to 30 September, the "Biodiversity, Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Linked" exhibition by the GoodPlanet Foundation will be hosted on all French campuses of SKEMA. This exhibition aims to take visitors on a journey through the richness of biodiversity and emphasise the interconnection between all living beings.

These events are part of a broader effort to raise awareness and educate about the challenges of sustainable development. They reflect SKEMA's commitment to changing mindsets and encouraging concrete actions for a more sustainable future.
