Students from the Global BBA and MSc International Business programmes have launched a society named Sustainability Committee on the Belo Horizonte campus in Brazil. Passionate about sustainable development, these students want to change mindsets on and off campus.

In October, a group of students from the Belo Horizonte campus built a green wall at the entrance of the Belo Horizonte campus and hung about 30 plants on it. Behind this activity, the objective of the new Sustainability Committee student society is to raise awareness among students and involve them in day-to-day management of this garden. "With this first initiative, we wanted to create a green atmosphere on campus and encourage students to get involved in plant care.

We believe that this can lead to interesting interactions between students," explains Amanda Amaral Garcia, a Global BBA student and co-founder of the committee.

"Recover used batteries and replace plastic cups"

Other actions on the campus are planned. "We want to set up bins to collect used batteries and batteries for recycling in a specialised centre. We plan to install receptacles to recover the plastic caps. We're also working with the university restaurant to reduce the presence of plastic on campus.

For example, we want to distribute cardboard cups instead of the ones we currently give," explains Marie-Lou Haran, an M2 student in the Master in Management (PGE) programme.
