Cycl’One: a student thrift shop recognised for its commitment to sustainable fashion
A student-led project supported by Enactus SKEMA has been honoured by Enactus France and the SNCF Foundation for its efforts to promote sustainable fashion. Cycl’One, launched by five students, has received the “Coup de Pouce” Award along with €1,000 in funding to continue raising awareness among students about responsible clothing consumption.
Initiated in late 2022 within the Enactus SKEMA Lille association, Cycl’One offers a practical approach to changing fashion habits on campus. Now driven by a larger team, the project is built around three key pillars: on-campus thrift shops, introductory upcycling workshops, and awareness campaigns on the environmental impact of the fashion industry. The aim is twofold: help students refresh their wardrobe at a lower cost while encouraging environmentally conscious practices. A way to bring circularity into student life by giving a second life to existing clothes.
National recognition for local action
On 28 March, Cycl’One received the “Coup de Pouce” Award at a ceremony in Paris. The prize, which includes €1,000 in funding, will allow the team to launch a new evening dress rental service and organise clothing repair workshops. The goal: give students access to stylish outfits without turning to fast fashion. In a twist on the traditional pitch, finalists were asked to present their project as if they were… at the hairdresser's.
This unusual setting gave the Cycl’One representatives a chance to demonstrate their persuasive skills in a creative context. “Since its creation in late 2022, Cycl’One – a project led by Enactus SKEMA Business School – has been committed to fostering more responsible fashion practices at SKEMA. The project focuses on three core actions: raising awareness of fashion’s environmental impact, organising thrift sales, and running upcycling workshops. There are currently seven of us involved,” explains Ambre Clozel, head of Enactus SKEMA Lille.
