Graduate's startup offers low-carbon travel
A graduate of SKEMA's Master in Management (PGE) programme and the MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Léo Malet has just launched "Mollow", a website offering travel itineraries with minimal carbon dioxide emissions. Clever, isn't it?
Launched on 17 March with a well-targeted communication campaign on social media, Mollow is an association that aims to "decarbonise tourism". Just three weeks after its launch, Mollow's LinkedIn page already has 5,000 followers. "The goal of our platform is to offer low-carbon destinations from several major French cities, largely favouring train travel," explains Léo Malet, who left his job as a market strategy manager Gillette Venus & Jolly France at P&G to embark on impact entrepreneurship and support the launch of ambitious projects like this one. With Mollow, users can choose a low-carbon itinerary and build their trip by incorporating stops. At the same time, they can check the amount of CO2 they will indirectly emit compared to a "classic" journey by flight.
Several trips in one
Do you want to go to Rome? Take a night train from Paris, stopover in Turin, short stop in Siena and visit the "Torre del Mangia" or the "Basilica San Domenico". "The idea is to offer several trips in one journey and move towards the tourism of tomorrow. Many travellers are demanding this today. We want to change the way people think about travelling by train," says Léo Malet.
A community of eco-friendly travellers
In addition to low-carbon itineraries, Mollow offers recommendations for choosing a hotel to spend the night and suggestions for dining in each city. "Mollow is first and foremost a community of volunteers who share their tips and itineraries. What we want to convey is practicality and inspiration."
Excellent visitor numbers
In one week, the Mollow website recorded 50,000 visits and now receives around 3,000 to 5,000 visits per day. Completely free for users, the association aims to raise funds through partnerships with tourist offices and take a commission when redirecting users to booking platforms.
