The Supply Chain Consulting Week recently brought together students, professionals, and renowned partners for an immersive experience in the complex and fascinating world of logistics and procurement. This flagship event of the Mastère Spécialisé® Manager de la Chaîne Logistique et Achats (Advanced Master in Supply Chain and Purchasing Management) at SKEMA Business School highlighted the power of experiential learning, enabling young talents to collaborate with industry leaders such as Alstom, Avril, Le Groupe Adeo (Leroy Merlin), and Nestlé.

Eager to align young professionals with current practices in the supply chain field, Maximilian Rech, Academic Director of the Mastère Spécialisé® Manager de la Chaîne Logistique et Achats, developed this unique week-long initiative centred around real-world themes. “This project perfectly illustrates the value of real-life scenarios and actionable recommendations that can be immediately applied in the professional world,” emphasises Maximilian Rech. Over the course of the week, students confronted theoretical knowledge with real-world problems, devising innovative solutions tailored to the specific needs of partner companies.

Strategic Partnerships Driving Impactful Solutions

Through the involvement of key collaborators such as Tamara Martin, Global Commodity Director, and Julien Damon, Procurement Expert, at Alstom; Xavier Roux, Group Supply Chain Director at Avril; Daniel Suyetov, Marketplace & Head of Supply Chain, and Loic Dilly, Head of Product & Technology, at Adeo; as well as Nestlé representatives including Luc Soro (Head of Local Strategic Buyers), Mathieu Reyne (Indirect Strategic Buyer), and Alix Lecerf (a SKEMA student in an apprenticeship with Nestlé as a Strategic Milk Buyer), students worked in real-world conditions, offering recommendations with potential for implementation. The collaboration between SKEMA and its partners fostered a productive dialogue between academia and industry, a crucial approach for addressing the evolving skill needs in this dynamic sector.

Continued Learning with Nestlé

Nestlé, a key partner of the event, also welcomed the finalist teams for an exceptional day at its Issy-les-Moulineaux offices. The agenda included:

  • A collaborative workshop to refine winning proposals;
  • Knowledge-sharing sessions with expert buyers specialising in direct and indirect categories;
  • A workshop on CSR led by a sustainability ambassador;
  • Job-dating sessions with the Talent Acquisition team.

A Promising Future

This event transcends a purely academic exercise; it serves as a genuine springboard for careers in a strategic sector. SKEMA Business School continues to shape the leaders of tomorrow by cultivating a culture of excellence and innovation. The Supply Chain Consulting Week exemplifies the strength of partnerships between academia and industry, paving the way for impactful learning and real-world results. "Together, we are contributing to the future of supply chain and procurement management," concludes Maximilian Rech.
