Professor Francesco Castellaneta becomes a member of Strategic Management Society

Francesco Castellaneta, professor of entrepreneurship and strategy at SKEMA Business School and director of the Management specialisation of the PhD in Business Administration, has been elected to join the "Competitive Strategy Group" of the Strategic Management Society (SMS).

Strategic Management Society is a professional society with around 3,000 members working on advancing strategic management. SMS publishes some of the leading scientific journals in the field, such as Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Global Strategy Journal. It also holds a prestigious annual conference (to be held in Toronto this year).

Within the Competitive Strategy Group, Francesco now serves as an associate program chair and is responsible for organising the panels of the group's conference. In the group, Aleksandra Kacperczyk (London Business School) is the chair, and Olga Hawn (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is the program chair. 

In 2024, Francesco Castellaneta will hold the position of program chair and, in 2025, become the chair of the Competitive Strategy Group.


Member of the KTO research centre


Francesco Castellaneta is part of the KTO (Knowledge, Technology, and Organization) research center at SKEMA. He specialises in topics related to strategy and entrepreneurship. 

His research focuses on studying the factors that impede or facilitate organisational learning and knowledge appropriability in entrepreneurship, private equity, venture capital, and M&A contexts. He is a member of GREDEG (research group in law, economics and management of the University Côte d'Azur and the CNRS) and holds a chair of excellence at the University Côte d'Azur.
