Safran Management Development Programme: an ambitious talent development solution

The Safran Group helps its managers to hone their skills through various tailored training programmes, such as the Management Development Programme (MDP) developed by Safran University. The Management Development Programme, co-constructed with SKEMA’s Executive Education department, is a concrete example of this “customised” approach to support top managers.

As part of its second module, the 25th group of the Management Development Programme benefited from a learning expedition organised in Oslo, Norway, by Safran University and SKEMA. The 34 participants, representing the diversity of Safran's activities, alternated between practical workshops (including peer coaching and groupwork) and external conferences and lectures on the themes of sustainable aviation, leadership, interculturalism and high-impact communication.

Tailored content and methods

The programme also included a visit to the Herøya Industrial Park. “During the Learning Expedition in Oslo, the themes discussed and the companies visited addressed Safran's current challenges, such as decarbonisation, sustainable aviation, interculturalism and leadership to bring on board and manage complex teams," explained Sabine Selugy, Executive Education project manager at SKEMA, adding, “In co-constructing this course with Safran, SKEMA Executive Education was able to tailor its content and pedagogical methods to the specific needs of future managers."

As for the third and final week, this was dedicated to a business simulation dealing with financial aspects, before the sub-groups presented their projects.

An innovative training approach

Safran University's Management Development Programme is part of a disruptive training approach for leaders and it offers its participants a rich and varied experience to develop the skills required by tomorrow's managers.

The programme enables them to build a solid professional network and to strengthen their team spirit, while preparing them to rise to the challenges of the aeronautics industry in an ever-changing world. “The Management Development Programme has been a real opportunity to explore the main tools required in my role as a manager within Safran. For example, thanks to the session devoted to intercultural management, I have really comprehended my current post in its widest sense! There is a very pedagogic approach, with a blend of professionalism and fun, which enabled me not only to improve my managerial practices but also develop a solid international network, which will, in all likelihood, support me throughout my career. So, a big thanks to the SKEMA and Safran University teams for this programme, which has contributed to our development as managers!", explained Quentin Uettwiller, head of program & operations at Safran Electrical & Power.
