In North Carolina, SKEMA Consulting is keen to gain visibility. It is build its legal foundation to secure clients in the US. "At the moment, we can't get involved in commercial activities because of our student status. The challenge for the coming months and years will be to work with competent lawyers and jurists on finding a solution that enables us to do so. We are part of the national confederation of JEs in the US, and are seen as a pillar of the movement," says Roxanne Lambert, the L3 PGE student who will be heading the American branch in June.

An eye on Stellenbosch

"This year will be a pivotal one as we continue to work towards becoming an international JE. We are thinking of setting up in Stellenbosch. At a local level, we work a lot with JEs in France and want to make sure companies know about us," says Rafaelle Arend-Mallaroni, an L3 student in the Master in Management (PGE) programme at the Grand Paris campus, who graduated from the ECS preparatory course at the Lycée Saint-Just in Lyon.

Forging local contacts

At the Lille campus, SKEMA Conseil has a branch manager eager to build new relationships with local players. "I learn a lot with every meeting. I'm making progress in managing a team, I'm building relationships with clients, and I'm meeting influential players in the economic world. We recently met Yann Orpin, president of Médef Lille Métropole," says Nicolas Moulin, an L3 PGE student who studied literature at Lycée Henri IV in Paris, and the director of SKEMA Conseil in Lille.

Professionalising student experience

As a student laboratory within the school, the junior enterprise is a training ground for students. With its focus on commercial objectives, team management and consulting studies for a range of structures (startups, small/mid-sized companies, entrepreneurs, etc.), each year the JE attracts several students looking to gain professional experience. "There are a lot of challenges. For me, joining the JE is very useful as I'm aiming to be a consultant. I want to work on projects with other campuses and develop our visibility not only in the Sophia Antipolis area but also among companies in the region," says Maëlys Le Nohaïc, an MSc in Business Consulting and Business Transformation student at the Sophia Antipolis campus.
