A distinguished delegation of seven researchers from SKEMA Business School’s KTO research centre made a significant impact at the 44th Annual Conference of the Strategic Management Society (SMS), held in October in Istanbul, under the theme “Strategic Management of Fault Lines, Contradictions, and Divergences.”

The SMS conference is renowned for facilitating rich dialogue among leading scholars, emerging talents, CEOs, and seasoned practitioners. It serves as a platform for critical discussions that bridge the gap between academic research and practical application, ultimately shaping the future landscape of business and higher education on a global scale.

Among the highlights of SKEMA’s participation, professors Bruno Cirillo and Francesco Castellaneta received the SEJ Outstanding Reviewer Award from the prestigious Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ), an FT50 publication. This accolade recognises the exceptional quality and quantity of their review work in 2024, celebrated during the SEJ Editorial Board Business Meeting at the conference.

Additionally, PhD candidates in Business Administration, Mehdi Ibn Brahim and Artyom Yepremyan, were distinguished as among the best reviewers at the conference, showcasing the calibre of SKEMA’s emerging scholars.

Bruno Cirillo also contributed to the conference by leading an insightful panel discussion on the evolution of competence through human capital, featuring esteemed experts in the field.

In total, five faculty members from the KTO Research Centre—Bruno Cirillo, Marlon Alves, Mehdi Ibn Brahim, Artyom Yepremyan, Saverio Favaron, and Francesco Castellaneta—alongside the two PhD candidates, presented their research across various sessions. Their topics encompassed a diverse array, including collaboration and workplace interactions, the role of private capital in governance, CEO cognitive processing styles, digitalisation and managing online reputation, organisational design and adaptation, startup employment attractiveness, and the interplay between AI-generated forecasts and human prediction.
