SKEMA student Mathieu Merian wins 'Les Victoires by GARANCE'

Having recently showcased his prototypes at the Bourget Air Show and having presented his exoskeleton project to army executives, Mathieu Merian, a fourth-year Global BBA student at SKEMA Business School, has added another feather to his cap. Somanity, a startup co-founded by him that is incubated at SKEMA Ventures, has won the "Les Victoires by GARANCE" entrepreneurship award, securing a grant of €50,000.

After winning the entrepreneurship award from Fondation Université Côte d'Azur, our student Mathieu Merian's Somanity has won over the jury of Les Victoires by GARANCE, an entrepreneurial initiative of the GARANCE group, specialists in innovative and comprehensive personal insurance.

Somanity is a startup that specialises in the manufacturing of medical-use exoskeletons. "The grant will help us speed up the commercialisation process by better equipping us," said Mathieu Merian, following his win. Competing with 100 projects and 16 finalists, Mathieu Merian and Somanity have demonstrated with this prestigious award that the ingenuity and utility of the 3D-printed exoskeletons have a bright future. This medical device, initially costly, will soon be available for less than €10,000. This represents a significant advancement in the health and mobility sectors.

Incubated at SKEMA Ventures, supported by ESA

Mathieu Merian is incubated at SKEMA Ventures, the incubator-accelerator of SKEMA, and is supported by the European Space Agency (ESA). He is working with various medical institutions and is looking at the defence and aerospace sectors for new applications for his product. Here's hoping the winning streak continues for Mathieu!
