SKEMA Ventures' pitch competition with leading Chinese innovators

In March, SKEMA’s Suzhou campus held the Open Pitch Day event in which several young entrepreneurs pitched their projects to experts in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation research. It was jointly organised by SKEMA Ventures, the school’s incubator-accelerator, and Dushu Lake Entrepreneurship Development Centre

After an introduction by Wenyu Dou, academic director of the Suzhou campus, 14 students and entrepreneurs presented their ideas to a panel of experts. "The event took place in an open, collaborative atmosphere. This kind of contest helps to introduce entrepreneurship to students and support the dreams of young entrepreneurs in a more open and inclusive way," said Juan Sun, vice president of Dushu Lake Entrepreneurship Development Centre.

"Drawing on a comprehensive range of innovative resources"

The panel provided invaluable feedback and suggestions to the participants after each presentation. "This joint initiative is designed to draw on a comprehensive range of innovative and entrepreneurial resources to develop students' potential," said Chali Zhou, manager of SKEMA Ventures in China. The panel consisted of experienced entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and industry experts.

Participants included the Dushu Lake Youth Venture platform, the National University of Singapore (Suzhou) BLOCK71 Suzhou Research Institute, the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University International Innovation Hub and the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Career Centre.
