SKEMA Business School has won the Innovation in Higher Education Award at the 2025 Digital Learning Trophies for its AI Assistant, an artificial intelligence platform designed to support and enhance student learning.

Developed in-house and integrated into K2, the school’s learning platform, AI Assistant offers a range of tools aimed at strengthening student autonomy and academic performance. Its main feature, Learning Tutor, enables students to summarise documents, deepen their understanding of key concepts, and generate personalised quizzes based on course materials. The tool adapts to individual learning needs, helping students structure their revision and prepare more effectively for exams.

Since its launch in January 2024, the tool has been rolled out to more than 720 third-year Master in Management students, generating over 4,000 questions and 1,900 summaries. A survey showed that 73% of users felt the tool had improved their learning, while 88% expressed interest in using it in other courses.

Encouraging active learning through AI

“AI Assistant does not replace learning – it enhances it by making students more accountable. Our aim was to structure its use so that it becomes a tool for active and critical learning,” said Nathalie Hector, Director of Innovation and Learner Experience at SKEMA.

With this award, SKEMA strengthens its position as a pioneer in digital learning. The school plans to extend AI Assistant to 2,000 students in 2025 and to develop new features, including Career Coach, a module focused on student guidance and career preparation, developed with support from the SKEMA Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Montreal, Canada.
