Students at SKEMA Business School's Suzhou campus delved into the rich cultural tapestry of China to experience the unique facets of Suzhou's traditions at the vibrant celebration of the 2024 Chinese New Year.

Some students engaged in immersive dumpling-making workshops, guided by skilled instructors, to master crafting these symbolic delicacies. Despite initial challenges, they succeeded, fostering a convivial atmosphere and gaining deeper insights into the significance of food in Chinese culture.

"I enjoyed the dumpling-making experience; it provided a delightful insight into Chinese New Year festivities," shared international student Anne-Sophie Dutrieux, SKEMA student on Suzhou campus, in MSc International Marketing and Business Development (MSc IMBD).

Others had the opportunity to sample a diverse array of Suzhou's classic dishes, from the iconic squirrel-shaped mandarin fish to savoury braised shredded eel, showcasing the city's culinary finesse and unique flavours. "All of them are delicious, and I particularly liked the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish," remarked Céline Garcia, captivated by the exquisite flavours of Suzhou delicacies.

Beyond culinary experiences, the students explored Suzhou's classical gardens and ancient business districts, gaining insights into the city's rich history and cultural heritage. The celebration continued with interactive activities at an ancient temple, where students engaged in traditional games and explored the art of New Year prints, fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation for vibrant Chinese traditions.
